"The
dancers body is simply the
luminous manifestation of their soul. This is the truly creative
dancer, natural but not imitative, speaking in movement out of self and
out of something greater than all selves"

A key stage in the Tango UK Salon Tango curriculum |

Super Tangks are a protected learning
space
where all dancers attending
need to have 3 years experience and previously attended a Tango Tangk.
It
is not our intention to exclude dancers or separate you from
your 'favourite dancers', we are simply guiding all dancers though a
progressive and didactic system that will help to improve your salon
tango.
Looking back over the last 2 years of Super Tangk events, we have seen
great improvements in most
dancers attending these advanced workshops, whilst a small percentage
have not been able to demonstrate a sustained improvement.
To address this, we have
reveiwed the content of the Tango Tangk, and set a curriculum which
specifically prepares dancers for entry into the Super Tangk and makes attendance of a least one Tango Tangk a
pre-requisite of attending a Super Tangk. For
this
reason, the Tango Tangk workshops are being referred to as 'Super Tangk
Preparatory Workshops'
The Super Tangk
events in 2011 will specifically teach the
detailed curriculum described below.
Super Tangk Curriculum Targets
MEN'S
TECHNIQUE
A relaxed,
well-shaped and comfortable
embrace which acts as a conduit for
communication in the dance without the use of isolated arm movement,
especially in the invitation of circular movement.
A clearly
and compellingly communicated process of invitation to move which (at
its most extreme) involves indication of direction, preparation
of step and collaborative transfer of weight.
Effective use of contra-posture in the walk and contra-contra-posture
in inviting the cross.
Confidant,
precise, rhythmic walking on the 1 and 3 of tango
rhythm, in parallel and cross systems, inviting movement from the torso
at all times, whilst maintaining a space in the line of dance.
Confidant
and balanced axis whilst using contra-posture
and the ability to turn around this axis in balance, on either leg, in
both directions.
An understanding and confidant use of in- and out-of-axis dynamics
whilst working with the energy of the ladies free leg.
The
demonstration of the ability to dance tango through
the woman's body rather than to dance tango as an individual who
happens to be in a dance embrace with a woman.
The ability to improvise each step through collaborative negotiation
rather than executing patterns from memory. |

an invitation.
A response technique which contains the man's energy

weight.
Effective

response to contra-contra-posture during the cross.
Confidant,
precise, rhythmic walking on the 1 and 3 of tango
rhythm within the context of the man's invitation.
An understanding
of parallel and cross systems, responding with whole body movement at
all times.
Confidant
and balanced axis whilst using contra-posture
and the ability to turn around this axis in balance, on either leg, in
both directions.
An
understanding and confidant use of in- and out-of-axis dynamics whilst
