Tango is about sharing

To help reduce our carbon footprint, we will reward any driver who brings additional passengers in his/her car with an additional loyalty stamp for every passenger.

A loyalty card filled with 10 stamps can be redeemed for the price of a milonga entry. Steve and Debbie recommend www.liftshare.org to coordinate the sharing of car journeys and cut costs.

After joining this free service, members simply register their journey and the system lists all potential matching journeys. The matches are displayed in both table and map format, allowing the user to easily find the most suitable people. Having found a match the user simply sends an automated email to any likely matches and arranges to travel together. JOIN

The art of the tango DJ

Playing tango music at a milonga is not simply a case of playing ad hoc CDs or putting on a bunch of MP3s.

A tango DJ needs to know his music and prepare a music plan for the evening that follows a dynamic curve. Start simply, build the complexity and excitement and then slowly bring the dancers back down to reality.

Play music to balance the three genres of tango, vals and milonga in 'tandas' - groups of three similar tracks so dancers can invite each other for the first track knowing that the next two will be similar.

Tandas are separated by a 'cortina' (curtain) to signify a change of orchestra/genre. You can explore a four hour playlist created by Steve Morrall here: SPOTIFY
